Will the Amaravati farmers yatra be able to make an impact?
X
The TDP-sponsored farmers yatra from Tulluru in Amaravati Capital Area to Tirupati has begun on Monday morning. The yatra, christened Nyayasthanam nunchi Devasthanam Maha Pada Yatra, will cover 70 major villages in four districts in South Andhra and Rayalaseema. The yatra will help create awareness about the Amaravati issue in these districts.

The TDP and the section of farmers supporting the yatra tried to rake up some ruckus on Monday morning when former Congress MP Renuka Chowdary tried to join the Yatra. The police did not allow her. But, the police deftly managed the situation. Earlier, the yatris performed all religion prayers at the launch spot. Later, they performed special poojas to Lord of Tirumala and to theNyaya Devatha.

Initially, AP DGP Gowtham Sawang declined permission to the yatra. However, the farmers managed to get a High Court diktat and secured permission from him. However, the DGP allowed only 157 persons to become part of the yatra. Also, no public meeting would be allowed during the yatra. The DGP also said that no deviations from the yatra would be allowed without prior permission.

However, one did not understand how the yatra will get people’s support without covering all the districts in the state. No interface was organized between the people of Vizag and Kurnool, which are the two other capital cities. With these handicaps, will the yatra be able to create the necessary impact? Will it be able to turn the people of the whole of the state against the government? Let’s wait and see.
