Will this YSRCP MLA contest on Jana Sena ticket next time?

Ever since YS Jagan Mohan Reddy cracked whip and ordered the party MLAs to mend their ways and improve their performance, most MLAs have fallen in line. Many are working to improve their image among the public in general. Several have begun padayatras and have started meeting the voters in a regular manner.

It is now clear that at least some MLAs may not be renominated to contest again. They are now looking at alternatives for the 2024 elections. One such MLA, who is looking to join other political parties, is Pithapuram MLA Pendem Dorababu. If sources are to be believed, Pendem Dorababu is said to be exploring the option of joining some other party.

The main problem with Pendem Dorababu lies in his inability to take along all the groups within the party in his constituency. Especially, he is said to be at loggerheads with Kakinada MP Vanga Geetha. She has considerable influence in the constituency. Also, there are several complaints against Dorababu.

Dorababu knows that he might not be given the party ticket again. So, he has used the good offices of his close relative Raksha Ramaiah, who is a key leader of the Congress Party in neighbouring Karnataka, to impress upon Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan to give party ticket to Dorababu. It may be recalled that the Jana Sena polled 28000 votes in the 2019 elections. If there is alliance between Jana Sena and the BJP, that is all the more better for Dorababu as he has begun his political career with the BJP. He was the party MLA in 2004.

So, Dorababu is said to be looking towards the Jana Sena and might become its candidate if the YSRCP refuses the ticket to him. Let's see what happens next in Pithapuram.
