In the past 24 hours, India reported as many as 50,129 fresh pandemic infections, which takes the total infections related to the pandemic to 7,8,64,811.

The Union Health Ministry said, 62,077 patients, were recovered from the virus in 24 hours, which pushes the total recoveries to a mammoth 70,78,123. For the first time, the recovery rate rose to 90 percent.

On the other hand, as many as 578 patients have succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, while the death toll rose 1,18,534. India’s mortality rate stood at 1.5 percent, while the global mortality rate is 2.69 percent.

With 90 percent of patients being recovered from the virus, the active cases in the country stood at 6,68,154. This translates to 8.50 percent of the total infections in the country.

Telangana's caseload zoomed to 2,31,252, after 978 fresh infections were reported in 24 hours. While 2,10,480 patients declared cured of the virus, active cases stood at 19,465.

Andhra Pradesh reported 3342 infections on Saturday, pushing the total infections to 82335. So far, 7,65,991 patients have beaten the virus. The state has 31469 active cases.

According to the data collected by the Johns Hopkins University, over 4.25 crore people were diagnosed with the pandemic globally, while over 2.87 crore people have been recovered from the virus. 11,49,191 patients succumbed to the virus.
