Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to launch the ambitious YSR Kanti Velugu scheme which envisages free eye tests to 5.40 crore people of the state. The scheme, which would be inaugurated on Thursday at Anantapur, would also undertake surgeries to the needy. Jagan has personally reviewed the arrangements for the Kanti Velugu scheme on Tuesday in the meeting with these district collectors as part of the Spandana programme.

Under this programme, preliminary eye tests would be conducted for over 70 lakh students in the Government and private schools. This programme would be completed in six days starting from October 10. After this, those needing surgical procedures will be provided with those services from November 1 to December 31. Te programme would be organised under the aegis of the task forces constituted at the district levels. The district collectors will officiate as the chairpersons of these committees. As many as 160 district programme officers, 1415 health officers, 42360 Aasha workers, 62,500 teachers, 14000 ANMs and 14000 public health workers would be made part of the programme. The scheme would be implemented in a phase-wise manner for three years.

On October 10, YS Jagan will inaugurate a slew of programmes in Anantapur and will inspect the stalls of schemes like YSR Arogya Sri, Amma Vodi, Poshan Abhiyan and other schemes. He would also address a public meeting in Anantapur.
