At a time when the Delhi and Haryana governments failed to rein in the rampaging farmers in Delhi, the tough action by the Yogi Adityanath Government in Uttar Pradesh has saved the day. The UP Government served notices on the farmers owning tractors and intending to travel to Delhi for the rally to pay surety bonds worth Rs 50000 to Rs 100000 and give an undertaking that they would not indulge in any arson and looting during the bandh.

The police in various police stations under Sitapur and Rampur have served these notices to some 35 farmers. The farmers had earlier participated in a protest on January 13 at Mishrikh. 'It has been brought to notice that in village Satnapur following people (going on to name 10 persons) have an internal conflict over protests against the farm Bills etc. Because of this, there is tension. Due to this, the people may disturb peace any time. Keeping this in mind, it is necessary to keep opposing sides bound down,' said the notice served on the farmers.

Though some activists have filed a PIL against the government actions, many are praising the government for the tough stand it has taken. Due to this, the possibility of arson was greatly reduced in UP. Yogi administration is known to be very tough with those indulging in arson and loot in the name of protests.
