Gambhir's Era As Coach Starts On A Successful Note!

Gautam Gambhir took over the Indian head coach position with a lot of expectations. He is a World Cup-winning player and he is a successful mentor in the IPL. Outgoing coach Rahul Dravid left a big legacy as India won the T20 World Cup and improved its rankings across the formats.

Gambhir had not only met the expectations but also started his era as the coach with a bang. His stint as the Head coach started with the Sri Lanka series. Stars were not part of the team and despite this Indian team swept the series. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja retired from the format.

Youngsters were given a call in the team and Surya Kumar Yadav was made the skipper. It was a positive start for Gambhir and Surya Kumar Yadav with the series win. The Indian team did not let the Sri Lankan side settle in.

In the third match, India recorded a memorable win in a super over. Surprisingly Surya Kumar Yadav bowled the last over and defended six runs and took two wickets. In the Super over the Men In Blue won the match. Gambhir’s team combination needs a special mention.

Specialist batsmen Surya Kumar Yadav and Rinku Singh flexed their arms and bowled a few overs. When Dhoni was the skipper we saw batsmen also bowling and giving breakthroughs for the team. Now we are seeing the same and the team members can bowl if the team needs it.

Though the Indian team passed the first test the main test awaits Gautam Gambhir in the form of a Test series with Australia. India and Australia will lock horns with each other for the Border-Gavaskar trophy. The Champions Trophy is also slated for next year.
