Living up to the expectations fans pinned on them, the Men in Blue are recording win after win in every match they play in the ongoing World Cup hosted by India. The league matches in the tournament ended the other day and all eyes are on the upcoming semi-finals and the final.

Team India and Skipper Rohit Sharma ended the league matches on a high note. India won as many as nine matches in a row and will enter the Semis as the table topper. India scripted history by emerging as the second team with the most consecutive wins in an edition.

Earlier India won eight matches in 2003 and in this edition, it won nine matches. Australia holds the record for most wins with 11 wins in 2003 and 2007 editions. If India can win Semis and Finals, we can equal the record of Australia.

India is just two matches away from World Cup glory. Rohit’s men will play the semis against New Zealand and will play the finals if they can defeat the Kiwis. Fans are hoping that India can do to New Zealand what it did for us in the 2019 edition.

Rohit Sharma needs a special mention here. He has been spot-on as a skipper. His captaincy played a big role in India’s unbeaten run in the tournament. The bowling changes he made gave good results and bowlers are on a roll. In yesterday's match, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli entertained fans by taking one wick each.

Rohit Sharma broke multiple records and added a few feathers to his illustrious cap. Rohit Sharma scored 503 runs in this edition as the skipper and in this process, he broke the record held by Sourav Ganguly who scored 465 runs in the 2003 edition.

Hit Man equaled the record held by Sachin Tendulkar by scoring 500 plus runs in two World Cup editions. In the 2019 and 2023 editions he scored 500 plus runs. Sachin did the same in 1996, and 2003. What makes Rohit special is that he scored 500-plus runs in two consecutive wins and he is the only player to do so.

Rohit Sharma smashed 60 sixes in this calendar year and with this, he broke the record held by AB de Villiers with 58 sixes. 24 sixes came from his bat in the World Cup as a skipper and became the captain with the highest sixes. Earlier England’s Eoin Morgan smashed 22 sixes.

Rohit Sharma also entered the elite list of players with 14,000 runs as an opener. Dashing Opener Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar are in first and second places with 16,119 and 15,335 runs respectively.

With the super half-century against the Netherlands, Rohit Sharma recorded 13 fifty-plus scores in the World Cup and he is in third place along with Shakib Al Hasan. Sachin Tendulkar is at the top place with 21 fifty-plus scores.
