The stage is set for a global tournament in the form of the prestigious 2024 Summer Olympics. Paris is going to host the athletes who land there for the event across the globe. All the arrangements have been made and the enthusiasts are waiting for July 26 to come soon so that the Olympics can start.

Talking about India, more than 100 athletes have been selected in the quest for medals on the world stage. Eight Telugu athletes across the sports were in the squad who were carrying high expectations to win the medals. Let us have a look at the athletes.

PV Sindhu: We cannot start the list without taking her name. Fans pinned high hopes on the star badminton player to win a medal. She has a history of winning medals including Gold at the 2019 World Championships. Sindhu won two back-to-back Olympic medals. On her day she can defeat any opponent and win a medal. She can shine on the big stage.

Sreeja Akula: The 25-year-old is a rising star with a few feathers to her cap. She won a gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the mixed doubles. As India did not win a Gold in table tennis in the Olympics the star player is expected to give the breakthrough. 2024 has been a good year for her with memorable wins and if she can continue the golden arm then India can have its maiden gold in Table Tennis.

Jyothi Yarraji: The track athlete is grabbing everyone’s attention as he is the first Indian athlete to compete in the 100-metre hurdles at the Olympics. She won a medal at the Asian Games and she holds the national record in the hurdle. She hails from Vizag and comes from a humble background. But that did not stop her from carrying a lot of expectations.

Jyothika Sri Dandi: The Tanuku Girl is a member of the Women’s 4x400m Relay Team selected for the Olympics. The sprinter known for her lighting speed owns a few titles already. She wanted to become a doctor as she is a topper. But she developed a passion for sports and took this path. 52.73 seconds is her best in the individual 400m segment.

Nikhat Zareen: The Nizamabad-born boxer is a sensation with a terrific track record. She bagged a Gold at the Women's Junior and Youth World Boxing Championships in 2011. Nikhat won Gold at the Nations Cup International Boxing, the 16th Senior Women National Boxing Championship, and the Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament. The two-time world champion can pack a Golden punch.

Esha Singh: Another young athlete on the list. The 19-year-old shooter surprised everyone by emerging as the National Champion in the 10m Air Pistol category at just 13. She was a Telangana state champion in the 10m air pistol range and became the National Champion. She has a gold to her name in the U19 category. Talking about the Olympics, Esha Singh said that she will focus on executing the name, not the results.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy: The 23-year-old badminton player has a golden arm along with his partner Chirag Shetty. The pair bagged gold at the Asian games in badminton making them the first Indians to do so. He has a Guinness World Record for his fastest hit. The pair won Gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and they have been making the country proud on the big stages.

Dhiraj Bommadevara: The archer who will represent India on a big stage has 15th rank in World rankings. He is a recipient of a few medals across the events in recurve men. He bagged a bronze at the World Cup in 2024 and a silver at the Asian Games in 2022. He holds the number one position in Indian rankings.
