India has the highest youngest population compared to other nations. This is an advantage to grab opportunities and be in a good position. Earlier Dragon Country China used to be the most populous nation with a youth population. But India took over the place and now enjoys a youth population.

Contrary to this, a study found that the youth is facing the heat of unemployment as they account for the major share of the unemployed. More than 80 percent of youth are unemployed in the country as per the data gathered by the firm.

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) said that around 83 percent of youth are unemployed in the country and this includes people from various age groups. In the latest report on unemployment in the country the ILO mentioned sensational things.

If we look at the dynamics, unemployment increased massively among those who had completed secondary education. In over two decades, the unemployment rate increased by around twofold. Back in 2000, the percentage was 35.2 percent which increased to 65.7 percent in 2022.

The report also said that the dropout of students increased massively after secondary education. Besides the growing unemployment, the dropouts also increased. The drop out is high in a few states.

On a broader note, the report said that the unemployment rate has been increasing between 2000 and 2019 and went down during the Covid era. It has to be mentioned here that Covid saw the worst unemployment with even the educated losing jobs and not being able to find jobs.

What’s even more shocking is that the report found that there is no big growth in the wages that are paid to the wagers. In some sectors, the wages remained the same while a few other sectors saw the minimum wages coming down. This is the issue with the unskilled people.
