Nandamuri Balakrishna is known to be Sankranthi Hero. He is the one Actor with most number of Pongal releases if compared to the Stars of his generation. This time, Nata Simha arrived with KS Ravi Kumar's directorial 'Jai Simha'. Let's see whether Balayya thrilled his fans or not with the new outing...
Synopsis:
Narasimha (Balakrishna) takes care of an infant while working in the house of Trustee of a Famous Temple in Kumbakonam. In the process of saving his Owner's Daughter, He ends up becoming an enemy of a Gangster. He becomes a target for even an Assistant Commissioner of Police. Situation prompt Narasimha to take the responsibility of saving ACP's Family. Why Narasimha has come to Kumbakonam? Why is he trying to save ACP's Family? Watch 'Jai Simha' in theatres near you to know the mystery!
Performances:
Balakrishna entertains his fans and masses thoroughly with 'Jai Simha', be it performance, dialogues, dances and fights. He is too good in emotional scenes. Dance Moves of Balayya in 'Amma Kutti' song are a treat to watch. On the flip side, The look attempted by Balakrishna hasn't suited him to the T. While the make-up is bad, Age is something the 55-plus Actor couldn't hide.
Nayantara left a mark of her own with her screen presence and acting abilities. Both Haripriya and Natasha fail to impress. Prakash Raj has gone overboard. The role played by Brahmanandam reminds us of Vadivelu in 'Chandramukhi' and it's outdated to say the least. Nothing much to say about rest of the Casting.

Technicalities:
Chirantan Bhatt has given his best for 'Kanche' and 'Gauthamiputra Satakarni'. May be, Mass Entertainers aren't his forte. None of the songs register except for 'Priyam Jagame Anandamayam'. The song of Haripriya doesn't fit in the film at all. Background Score is alright. Even Camera Work by Ram Prasad is nothing special. Production Values are just okay. Neither Story nor Dialogues penned by Ratnam have freshness. He, however, managed to deliver huge number of punch dialogues. KS Ravi Kumar hardly left a mark of his own. 'Jai Simha' is a proof that he failed to update himself & hence couldn't reach out to younger generation despite multiple attempts.
Analysis:
Promos of 'Jai Simha' has given a clear picture of how the movie is going to be like. Movie Lovers have been well prepared that they needn't expect any freshness in either story or screenplay. This movie is purely done targeting the Masses and Family Audience. Those who are happy with the Teaser and Trailer will be pleased to watch this commercial potboiler. At the same time, This could be a bitter pill for the audience who crave for new cinematic experience.
In a way, 'Jai Simha' reminds us of 'Samarasimha Reddy', 'Narasimha Naidu' and even 'Simhadri'. A proven template has been preferred by KS Ravi Kumar but he ignored the fact that it's been outdated. Especially, These kind of projects mayn't appeal to Younger Generation which is looking forward to watch path-breaking films such as 'Pelli Choopulu' & 'Arjun Reddy'. Whereas, Fan Base of Nandamuri Hero will be content with this movie to some extent.
Most of the First Half is filled with Hero elevation scenes. Plenty of punch dialogues were included. In a scene, Balayya mouths the one-liner: 'Nuvvu Kumbhakonaniki Bhayam...Kani Nenante Rendu Rashtralaku Pranam'. Audience expect him to be either a Popular Leader or Godly Figure in the Flashback after listening to this dialogue. Much to their shock, He is just a Mechanic in that episode. Which means, Punch Dialogues were included just to please the target audience.
First Half of 'Jai Simha' is passable with Hero elevation scenes, Punch Dialogues, Surprising Dance Moves and High-Voltage Fights. Twist in the Interval Bang doesn't blow anyone's mind. Lengthy Flashback in Second Half tests the patience of viewers. Romance & Comedy looks forced. Combination scenes of Balayya & Nayan are alright. Whereas, Scenes of Haripriya irritate. Tug of war between Hero & Villain is too routine.
Sentiment Scenes involving the Infant hits the right chord. Family Audience might appreciate them. Balayya entains the fans with Temple scene. In the Climax, Sentiment Scenes were included after a heavy-duty action sequence. A lengthy run time of 2.45 minutes is a setback and there is lag in Second Half. Overall, 'Jai Simha' is only for hardcore Balayya Fans.
