Akhanda 2 Release Plan: Balayya Fans Want That Date?

In the most unexpected and surprising series of events, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 didn’t arrive in theatres on December 5, and got postponed to a letter date. Now there are several discussions about the next possible release date of this film.

On Sunday, producers held a meeting with distributors in Hyderabad to discuss the situation. During this meeting, December 12 and December 24 emerged as the two possible release dates.

Reports suggest that a majority felt December 12 would be too rushed and that taking some additional time before releasing during the Christmas season on December 24 would be a safer option. However, this view has not gone down well with Balakrishna’s fans.

As soon as news of a possible December 24 release surfaced on social media, Nandamuri fans reacted strongly. They launched an online movement demanding that Akhanda 2 be released on December 12.

Using hashtags, fans began trending their demand, generating over 50,000 tweets within hours. Many posts described the December 12 release not as a request, but as a warning.

Fans expressed that the postponement of the December 5 release caused them significant disappointment, which they chose to bear silently. However, they claim waiting for more than two additional weeks is unacceptable and insist the film must release on December 12 at any cost.

On the other hand, producers and distributors believe that releasing the film within four days would require immediate final decisions, government approvals for ticket prices and special shows, booking arrangements, and worldwide release preparations. How the makers plan to calm fan anger if they stick to a December 24 release remains to be seen.
