With the second wave of Coronavirus hitting quite strongly, there have been reports of the government applying the 50% occupancy rule in theatres once again. It was done from December to February earlier and it is the reason why many big films had to wait till 100% occupancy is allowed in theatres.
The collections over the last few months have been encouraging and the star heroes and producers planned to arrive in summer and other festive seasons. But the 50% occupancy rule is obstructing their plans. Films made on such a large budget need theatres to run at full capacity and it is to be seen if the filmmakers are forced to postpone their films once again or not. Already 'Love Story' featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in the lead got officially postponed.
In the meanwhile, it may benefit small films as they don't need full capacity and can end up with decent money even with half-filled theatres. With big films getting postponed, they may get a chance to release their films without any pressure. Let us see what more changes does this second wave brings to Tollywood.
