Hero Ajith is one of the biggest stars in Tamil. Fans fondly call him 'Thala' and he is familiar to Telugu audience as well. Ajith's 'Prema Lekha'(1996) was a runaway hit in Telugu. From then onwards most of his films were dubbed into Telugu. Even though they didn't succeed at the box office, they were helpful in remembering Ajith as a hero.
Ajith is presently working on 'Vivegam' and he is planning to increase his market in Telugu with this film now. Film shoot has been wrapped up recently. The filmmakers have reportedly sold Telugu dubbing rights for Rs.4.5 crore. They are planning a big release in Telugu on par with Tamil. T.G.Thyagarajan produced this film under the banner of Satyajyothi Films. 'Shouryam' fame Shiva is the director. Kajal Aggarwal is the heroine of this film.
