Why did they say no to Shankar?

Update: 2017-10-01 08:18 GMT
Director Shankar is a brand in the film Industry. He has a great vision and eye for detail in his making which puts him above many contemporary directors. He has a different variety of films that made him the big name that he has become today. The best among his movies is Indian/Bharateeyudu. The movie became a huge hit in all languages it released and introduced Kamal Haasan in a new light to the 90's generation.

Such a film ended a note promising the return of Indian but Shankar said, whenever he feels there is an appropriate story to be told involving Indian/ Bharateeyudu then only he will make a sequel. Apparently, three years ago he got a line that is good enough to be made as a movie and he developed it further to make it as Indian-2 / Bharateeyudu-2. There is a talk in the Industry that he first approached Baahubali producers Shobu Yarlagadda and Devineni Prasad to produce the movie.

As he wanted producers who are passionate to make the movie on the large scale he envisioned and also, who have a clear cut planning to take the movie to the audiences. While he sent a synopsis and consent from Kamal Haasan to make the movie, Baahubali producers did not show interest in going with the production and they denied the proposal. Then Dil Raju, came into the picture and accepted to take up the big risky production in three languages all by himself.

With a great financial risk, Baahubali became a brand in itself for them to show off. But now, are unwilling to take such a risk? Or, are they not interested in associating with brand Shankar after working with brand SS Rajamouli? Did they wanted to avoid any ego clashes with their friends? Or is the story too dull to excite them? Many questions and we have to wait for the film release to know the answers!
