Kabali' Director Pa.Ranjith invited trouble with controversial comments on King Raja Raja Chozhan. Based on the complaint registered by Hindu Makkal Katchi, FIR was registered against the Filmmaker in Thirupanandal Police Station under Sections 152 and 153 A of the IPC.
Madras High Court turned down the appeal of Pa.Ranjith to extend his anticipatory bail period. The hearing of the case took place on June 24th.
Ranjith's Counsel argued in the court that there was no law & order situation in state after his client made comments on the King. He even brought to the notice of the Court that the case was booked six days after the comments were made. He also sought rejection of the case citing Freedom of Speech.
In reply, Justice Barathidasan made it clear there is a limit for freedom of speech. The Court sought proof for the allegation made by the Director that King Raja Raja Chozhan snatched the lands of Dalits. Judge directed Cops to file a response petition with documentary evidence while posting the next hearing to July 8th.
