The super hit combination of Victory Venkatesh, Varun Tej, Anil Ravipudi and Dil Raju have come together once again for 'F3' which is all set to hit the screens on 27th May.
They delivered a blockbuster like 'F2' back in 2019 and they are coming up with a sequel to it. There are high expectations on this hilarious family entertainer. The first song got a very good response and the team has kickstarted the promotions by making their technicians give interviews.
Noted editor Tammiraju worked on 'F3' and he shared a lot of interesting snippets about the field of editing and 'F3' in this interview. Let us go straight into it!
How Did Your Cine Journey Begin?
It's been 20 years since I came into the industry. I started in 1998 in Ramoji Film City as an Avid editor and worked in Prasad Labs for 14 years. I traveled with Rajamouli for 18 years and worked with him from 'Shanti Nivaasam' to 'Baahubali 2'. 'Pataas' was my first film with Anil Ravipudi and I was the editor for all his movies. I was the editor for around 30 films till date.
Are there any technological changes from 'F2' to 'F3'?
No, it's the same technology but the way the audience receives a film changes constantly. We have to edit the film accordingly.
Compared to 'F2', how is the story of 'F3' going to be?
'F2' was a hilarious take on marriage and its hardships while 'F3' deals with money. How it affects human relationships has been showcased in an entertainer manner in 'F3'.
Are there any similarities between 'F2' and 'F3'?
'F3' is the next film in the 'F2' franchise and the main characters in the first part were brought back here too. We narrated a new story with the same characters.
What does editing for a comedy film involve?
Editing a comedy movie is very tough. Mainly, Anil Ravipudi's films have a lot of comedy punches. It is quite hard to trim them but we make sure that there is no overflow and keep what is required for the story and proceedings.
How is it working with Anil Ravipudi again?
Working with Anil Ravipudi is always a positive feeling. He always thinks of the audience and their liking. We synced quite well right from 'Pataas' itself.
Do the directors respect an editor's opinion?
A lot of discussions and arguments go on at the editing table. A good product will only come out when proper care is taken in the pre-production and post-production stages. An editor looks at the rushes first and most of the directors respect the editor's opinion.
As the first viewer, what is your response after watching 'F3'?
'F3' has double the fun of 'F2'. A few points which were said regarding money have come out really well. The audience will be thoroughly entertained by this movie.
Is it true that a Dil Raju's film involves more editing work?
Dil Raju is a wonderful producer. He is very passionate about cinema and looks after it carefully. But with Anil Ravipudi working mostly under Dil Raju's banner throughout his career, he takes care of the corrections too.
How does the pan-Indian phenomenon affect editing?
I worked on 'Baahubali â 2' and director Rajamouli gave me credit for that. The makers usually prefer editors who are familiar with all the languages they are releasing the film in.
What is the role of an editor in reshoots?
Director, producer and editor have a discussion and decide what's best for the film.
Do you listen to the story before editing?
I don't listen to the story. We conceive a picture in our minds when we listen to a story. If we don't see what we expected in the rushes, we get disappointed. That is why I edit the film according to the rushes.
How does the relation between editing and CG work?
There will be a lot of blue mats used in the movie and we don't know what happens in the background. We have to know what is going to be there in place of the blue matt and work accordingly. We may not get the desired output at times and we discuss it with the team and start working again.
What was the toughest film in your career?
I worked very hard for 'Mirchi'. I was an associate editor of the film. We worked quite hard on 'Pataas' too.
What was your feeling after watching the rushes of 'F3'?
Super hit! Venkatesh sir, Varun Tej sir and the rest of the actors did a great job. The fun in 'F3' will be on another level.
How do you feel when the editor gets less credit after the movie becomes successful?
The main credit for success always goes to the director. An editor has to work according to the director's vision. It is his rushes on which we work on. So, he/she deserves it. But we also get out due share in the credit.
How is your relationship with other editors?
We congratulate each other when the film works. There is a healthy atmosphere between all the editors.
How do you make sure that there are no leakages from your side?
When the production and post-production works are going on, the footage goes into many people's hands. But we should have the sense to do the right thing. Despite all the precautionary measures, it all leads to the self-control of individuals.
What do you want to say about 'F3' to the audience?
This film has double fun compared to 'F2'. It is a sure-shot super hit!
Will there be an 'F4'?
We haven't thought about it as of now but this franchise will go on.
Tell us about the other projects in your hand.
I am editing Kalyan Ram's 'Bimbisara', a film under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, and Naga Shaurya's 'Krishna Vrinda Vihari'.
Good luck with your upcoming projects.
Thank You
