Winning a tough battle against MAA TV, Gemini TV bagged the satellite rights of Nandamuri Balakrishna's Summer release 'Legend'.
Initially, 14 Reels quoted a price of Rs 8.5 crore for the satellite rights of 'Legend'. Both MAA TV and Gemini competed to acquire the rights by offering a price of Rs 7 - 7.5 crore which is the highest in Balayya's career.
At the time when the deal was about to get finalised, Information and Broadcasting Ministry played the spoilsport by introducing a new rule. As per this norm, Advertisements will be allowed only for 12 minutes per hour for all entertainment channels.
As a result, Both Maa and Gemini decided to offer only half of the initial price. Gemini TV finally managed to bag it by paying anywhere between Rs 3.5 - 4.5 crore.
