KCR Govt grants pension to late Hero’s wife

Telangana Government has sanctioned a monthly pension of Rs. 10,000 to the widow of veteran film actor  T.L. Kanta Rao. The compensation will be provided during her life time from January 2015. Govt took the decision after receiving a letter from Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture (CA) Department

Kanta Rao hailed from Telangana region and he was born in Kodada in Nalgonda district.In the 1960s he was one of the primary actors in Telugu cinema, along with N. T. Rama Rao and Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Kanta Rao was known for portraying the roles of Narada, Lord Krishna, Arjuna. He played Lakshmana in the blockbuster film Lava Kusha for which he has won the Rashtrapati Award for best actor in 1963

Kanta Rao passed away on March 22, 2009 leaving financial distress to his widow.His wife Hymavathi is suffering from ill-health and her family members are financially poor. Therefore, the director of Department of Culture had written a letter to the State government.
