Mahanati Makers Struck Super Satellite Deal

Update: 2018-06-03 11:36 GMT

Delaying a decision sometimes can work bigtime for the filmmakers.  'Mahanati' producers were offered Rs.10.5 crores for the satellite rights before the release.  But they were expecting somewhere around Rs.18 crores as they were confident in the success of the film.  They didn't sell the rights and they adopted a wait and watch policy. The movie has turned out to be a money spinner at the box office and it has received critical acclaim as well.

The latest update reveals that Star Maa channel has acquired satellite rights and Amazon Prime has grabbed the digital rights.  The producers reportedly got whopping Rs.15 crores for Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam rights. Though they were expecting more, they didn't get Rs.18 crores.  But still, it is a very good deal considering the moderate budget they have invested in the film.

It is still unclear when Amazon is going to release the film online.  As the movie is still running in the theaters, they may release it only after fifty days of release.   Considering the box office collections and satellite+digital rights the movie can be declared as a true blockbuster.
