The theatre business took a severe beating due to Corona and the lockdown made things worse for them. The theatres have been locked from the past 7 months and though the government gave permission to reopen them, the distributors and owners are still hesitant over it.
Some of the bigwigs in the film industry are claiming that it is better from the business perspective to keep the theatres closed for another few months. It would be very difficult for the distributors to collect their investment as people may not be eager to walk into the theatres like before. Since the films are made on a huge budget, they cannot be sold for fewer rates but these high prices cannot be recovered in the current circumstances.
There are few who say that the theatres may not restart for another six months or till the vaccine arrives. This isn't confirmed yet as many big films are planning to release their films during the Sankranti season hoping that the theatres would reopen from December. We need to wait and see what happens in the coming days.
