How Did Animal Film Lose 50 Crores And Why?
However, the producer of the film, Pranay Reddy Vanga, who is the brother of Sandeep has made an interesting revelation.
Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal turned out to be a huge box office blockbuster for the year 2023 and it is still one of the highest grossing films of all time in Hindi belt. However, the producer of the film, Pranay Reddy Vanga, who is the brother of Sandeep has made an interesting revelation.
Pranay has revealed that the film lost Rs 50 crores in revenue due to the logistical challenges that came with the elongated run-time.
"The staple runtime for a film is 3 hours. This is when the standard cinema shows and screen allocations run correctly. But our film was 3 hours 21 minutes long, meaning the whole time of projection went to 3 hours 30 minutes. With such elongated run-times, we started to lose shows. At major multiplexes including PVR INOX we had to sacrifice one additional show as the time constraints weren't fitting" Pranay revealed.
Pranay further added that the lengthy runtime meant that Animal which could have ran with 5 shows a day in the first few weeks ran with only 4 standard shows. This resulted in a fiscal loss of Rs 50 crores but Sandeep was determined to keep his film at the designated runtime and they had to abide by it.
The very fact that the makers opted to lose Rs 50 crores trusting the vision of the director shows the kind of sanctity the film has. This brave call is beyond all box office projections.
