SS Rajamouli has achieved the impossible with his movie Baahubali. He took Telugu Cinema to global markets and the movie as already earned 1600 crs gross worldwide. This is the first Indian movie to gross 1000 crs only in India too. It is on the verge of crossing 500 crs Nett gross in Hindi alone.
Now, a question has been put to Rajamouli, what made him convince producers to make such a huge film? How did they manage to secure the trust of the investors and how he had to motivate his team over the years?
To all this Rajamouli answered in his own style, he said, " My producers believed in the content we had and Shobu Yarlagadda was more dreamy like me. But Prasad Devineni used to give us updates from time to time about the money prospects. We released the movie in Telugu for over 40 crores deficit and had confidence that budget can be recovered in Hindi. Thankfully, we did. Even though we received positive feedback from other languages initial negative comments from Telugu hampered our confidence and only when we saw numbers pouring in from third day, we all were able to breathe easy. For second film, there was absolutely no problem!"
Well, from his words the movie wizard, does sound like he had confidence in conquering the Hindi market. When asked about the divide between north and south cinema, he said, "For any economically forward industry, it is common to feel superior. Hindi Industry as they release their movies in 7 states and we release in 2 states, the difference in reach and money is quite obvious. So them feeling superior is quite natural and today, our people showing Baahubali as an example and feeling superior is also quite common!"
