Debate on Tamil versus Hindi/Sanskrit and Tamil versus English is happening in Tamil Nadu due to the contrast stand taken by Kamal Haasan & Rajinikanth.
While mentioning about Rajini's Speech at the MGR Educational Research Institute in Chennai on Monday where he encouraged students to speak in English, Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar alleged Thalaivar wants children to call their Parents Mummy and Daddy.
Whereas, Kamal Haasan encouraged Tamilians to speak in Tamil so that the language would continue to grow during the launch of his party 'Makkal Needhi Maiam' (MNM) in Madurai. He went on to say if the Tamilians feel shy of their mother tongue then the language would face an immediate death.
While Kamal spoke in Tamil and refrained from English Words in Madurai meeting, Rajini preferred Tanglish which is mix of Tamil & English during Yesterday's meeting though he claims to be a pure Tamilian. Superstar asked Students to speak in English among themselves so that their language skills would improve. He told Tamilians could excel outside Tamil Nadu if they knew English. He mentioned students who study in Tamil medium till Plus 2 find it difficult when they shift to English medium in colleges.
