'We Indians are like that only. Drama or nothing'. This is exactly what Vidya Balan said in the trailer and it perfectly explains the style of story narration in Bollywood these days. Even in biopics, they overdramatize and add unnecessary emotions to the film thereby making it far from reality.
Popularly known as the human-computer, Shakuntala Devi is a great mathematician who holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Bollywood decided to make a biopic on her and the highly talented Vidya Balan is brought on board to play the title role. The trailer of 'Shakuntala Devi' is a complete package with all elements like fun, emotion, empowerment and entertainment wrapped together. But what dominates everything is the drama which is overdone at times looking at the trailer. Anyone who watched some videos of real Shakuntala Devi could recognize the over-dramatization of the filmmakers.
Vidya Balan was perfect in the lead role though she reminds us of 'Tumhari Sulu' at times. Sanya Malhotra plays her daughter's role which Amit Sadh, Jisshu Sengupta and others play crucial roles. Also, the makeup and look of the actors look quite artificial at times. The film will be streaming on Amazon Prime from 31st July and hope the film doesn't disappoint much as the trailer did.Full View
