Due to pandemic, he went for non-theatrical releases for his Soorari Pottru/ Aakasam Nee Haddi Raa and Jai Bhim. The later film went on to be in the final 100 list of probables for Oscar Award nominations too.
Now, he is back with a theatrical release, ET. In Tamil, the movie is titled as Etharkkum Thunindhavan, meaning that he won't be bogged down by anything.
Trailer presents Suriya in all glory as a commercial hero doing stunts, mouthing punch dialogues and romancing with a beautiful lead actress like Priyanka Arul Mohan. Pandiraj, who is known for delivering hits with village subjects handled this film as well in similar fashion.
