Valmiki Faces Legal Issues!

Update: 2019-08-26 12:39 GMT
Varun Tej's Valmiki is getting ready for release on 13th September and Harish Shankar, the writer-director revealed Pooja Hegde character too from the film.

The film post production work is going on at full speed and the movie is now, facing legal issues due to the title.

Film is a remake of Jigarthanda and Harish Shankar used the title to elevate anti-hero character of Varun Tej who changes from a criminal to a good man, giving an ode mythological writer of epic Ramayana from Boya community, Valmiki.

The performance of Varun Tej in anti-hero character will be major highlight of the film and his look is already a big hit.

The 14 reels plus production is now facing a legal case from Boya community for insulting their caste by using the title for a character based violent movie.

They are saying that the movie depicted hero in a bad light and using Valmiki's name is an insult to their community. Boya Community Rights preserving committee did push the petition to High court now.

As it could be seen as SC/ST atrocity by law, if this case is pushed hard as an insult, we have to wait for the reaction from Harish Shankar and production house.

Movie might have to just change the title or issue an apology before the title as a disclaimer. Let's wait for the team reaction as Harish Shankar is not new to such controversies. He faced some objections for lyrics in Duvvada Jagannadam too.
