'Mahanati' is releasing on Wednesday. This is the next film of Vijay Deverakonda after 'Arjun Reddy success. Another film of Vijay also released but it is a backlog as Vijay said. He played Vijay Antony role in 'Mahanati'. He said that his character supports a journalist named Madhuravani who does research on Savitri life. Samantha played Madhuravani role in the film.
Vijay is saying that his character is small in the film. He said that he was initially offered Gemini Ganesan role which was done by Dulquer Salmaan. He said he was doubtful whether he can pull off such real-life character or not.. when he was mulling over how to portray the character, Dulquer accepted the offer by adjusting his dates. So Nag Ashwin went ahead with Dulquer for Gemini role. Vijay said that he was relieved as they got Dulquer Salmaan dates.
Vijay went on to reveal a funny discussion between him and Swapna Dutt, one of the producers of 'Mahanati' when she approached him for a role in the film. "One day Swapna called me up and gave an introduction about 'Mahanati'. I call her 'akka' so I asked her - 'Akka you know I'm a good actor.. I will try Savitri role this time. Please give me the opportunity.' She said 'shut up' and burst into laughter. She asked me to do a small role in the film. I know Nag Ashwin, Swapna Dutt, Priyanka Dutt from 'Yevade Subramanyam' time. As the same team is working for 'Mahanati' and the movie is rare, I accepted the role.
He went on to say that 'Mahanati' is not his film but it is Savitri film. He said he worked for the film as he liked the story. He said that audience will see real Vijay Deverakonda in his next film 'Taxi Wala'.
