Rajamouli and Prabhas are the thickest of friends. The duo worked on a total of three films namely Chatrapathi, Baahubali 1, and Baahubali 2. They share great mutual admiration towards each other. However, none of this affinity helped as Rajamouli requested Prabhas and the makers of Radhe Syam to skip Sankranthi release so that he can accommodate RRR in the Sankranthi release slot. Prabhas and UV Creations, who are bankrolling Radhe Shyam politely turned down the request of Rajamouli and affirmed that they can't skip Sankranthi release as they have already postponed the film's release by a long time and any further delays can lead to depletion of buzz. The answer was a big NO from Prabhas and UV Creations. That said, both Prabhas and UV Creations are said to have affirmed Rajamouli that they don't have any objections if RRR also releases this Sankranthi along with Radhe Shyam.
Initially, it was heard that Rajamouli and team RRR were hopeful of Sankranthi release but given the competition that looks imminent as Radhe Shyam, Bheemla Nayak, and Sarkaru Vaari Paata are releasing next Sankranthi, they had to sort out the release plans by consulting the makers of these films. Of all the Sankranthi releases, Radhe Shyam is the only biggie that can dent the pan-India box office prospects of RRR. So, Rajamouli approached Prabhas to know if he would be willing to alter release plans.
However, both Prabhas and UV Creations were hellbent about Sankranthi release and they turned down Rajamouli's advancements. Now, Radhe Shyam is certain to release in theaters next Sankranthi. Team RRR might have to search for alternative release windows now. It is heard that the makers are eyeing Ugadi as the possible release window for the film. More details are yet to emerge.
