New Troubles Hit Akhanda 2 Producers Before Release

Since yesterday, there has been only one discussion everywhere in the Telugu film industry Akhanda 2 has been postponed. Fans of Balakrishna were eagerly waiting for the film to release on December 5, especially for the evening and second shows. Many believed that if they missed the first shows, they could at least watch the later ones. But late last night, producers officially announced that Akhanda 2 would not be released as planned.

The production house released a statement saying they tried their best to meet the release deadline, but unexpected issues stopped the film from hitting theatres. They apologised to Balakrishna fans and the audience for the sudden change. They also assured everyone that whenever Akhanda 2 releases, it will definitely be a big hit. However, they did not announce a new release date, which created even more confusion among fans.

While some of the old financial issues of the producers were getting resolved, new troubles started at the last minute. One major issue came from the USA. Distributors there had planned a massive release for Akhanda 2. When the premiere shows were suddenly cancelled and the film was postponed, they lost all their booked screens. This caused a huge financial loss. Reports say the US distributor is now demanding a refund of around ₹11 crore from the makers.

The situation is no different in Andhra and Ceded regions. Due to the craze around the Balakrishna–Boyapati combination, buyers had purchased the film for very high prices. With the film now postponed indefinitely, they fear that the hype may reduce over time, which could affect business when it finally releases.

Another challenge is the government permissions. The producers may again need to approach both Telugu state governments for new GOs and clearances, which means the release process must begin from the start.

At the moment, the entire industry is waiting for clarity from the makers. Fans are disappointed but still hopeful that Akhanda 2 will arrive with more power whenever it gets a confirmed date.
