The title revelation and first glimpse of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s latest flick “Dada” were out the other day. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film has Peddi movie makers’ Vridhii Cinemas bankrolling it. But ever since the teaser was out, there has been one inevitable comparison, and now the job of Malineni is to break that flavour.
The opening shot of the Gateway of India, Mumbai backdrop, the police with long barrels, the whole red-themed visuals and the background score by Thaman are the crux of the “Dada” glimpse. But many viewers are instantly getting a deja-vu that they are watching Pawan Kalyan’s #OG glimpse again. In the name of making a gangster film, it looks like Dada has somewhere touched the notes that were recently touched by the OG movie. Can Malineni break that out?
Well, if the trailer comes out and the story sounds pretty different, then this mould gets broken automatically. Currently, even the YouTube video of the “Dada” glimpse is filled with comments like the film is looking like a remake of OG. Gopichand Malineni needs to work on that aspect, because such comparisons with recently released films never yield good results for commercial movies.
