The Telugu film industry is gearing up for another epic clash of titans this Sankranthi season, featuring the megastars Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna. This isn't the first time these two legendary actors will be battling for box-office dominance during the auspicious festival.

In fact, Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna have a history of Sankranthi showdowns. In 2017, it was Chiranjeevi's comeback film, "Khaidi No 150," taking on Balakrishna's historical epic "Gouthamiputra Satakarni." Both films were successful, but Chiranjeevi's film emerged as the bigger blockbuster. The trend continued in 2023 with "Waltair Veerayya" (Chiranjeevi) facing off against "Veera Simha Reddy" (Balakrishna). While both films found box-office success, "Waltair Veerayya" collected ₹225 crores and "Veera Simha Reddy" at ₹134 crores.

The upcoming Sankranthi season promises another exciting battle. Chiranjeevi is set to star in the socio-fantasy film "Vishwambrara," a grand production with high expectations. Balakrishna, on the other hand, will be seen in an out-and-out mass entertainer directed by Bobby.

While both films are likely to draw crowds based on the star power of the leads, Chiranjeevi's "Vishwambrara" seems to have the potential for a bigger box-office haul due to its large scale and unique genre. Industry estimates suggest "Vishwambrara" could aim for over ₹200 crore worldwide, while Balakrishna's film might target the same figure.

Despite the potential challenge, both Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna are sure to deliver films that will please their dedicated fan bases. The official release dates are yet to be confirmed, but one thing's for certain - the 2024 Sankranthi season in Tollywood promises to be a box-office battle for the ages.
