150-Years-Old 'Cinema Chettu' Uprooted By Godavari Floods!

But such an iconic tree was been uprooted due to the recent Godavari floods. This made not just the local people but a lot of film industry folks sad.

There are some places that are used in movies quite regularly but the regular public hardly notices it. They are a part of some of the most successful films and top scenes. One such location used by a lot of filmmakers over the years is 'Cinema Chettu' located in Kumaradevam village.

 

Situated in Kovvuru Mandal of Andhra Pradesh, this famous tree is 150 years old. It is quite vividly used in movies till a few years back. Over 300 films were made in this location and this tree has the background to many popular scenes. Starting from the 'Padipantalu' movie which came out in 1975 to Ram Charan's blockbuster film 'Rangasthalam', this tree is a part of many movies.

 

There used to be a strong belief that one shot of this tree in their film would guarantee success. The locals say that Singuri Tatabbayi is the person who planted it 150 years ago. Many directors like Dasari Narayana Rao, K Vishwanath, Krishna Vamsi, Vamsi, Sukumar and others made their film here. Even big stars like Superstar Krishna, Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, Rajnikanth, and Ravi Teja too shot near this Cinema Chettu. Even the blockbuster 'Pushpa' was shot here.

But such an iconic tree was been uprooted due to the recent Godavari floods. This made not just the local people but a lot of film industry folks sad. The visual of a 150-year-old tree falling down is quite disheartening.
