A silent and indirect rivalry between two leading music composers, Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) and Thaman, has become a talking point in the Telugu film industry. Though neither composer has openly targeted the other, recent comments made at public events and interviews have triggered strong reactions among fans and insiders.

The discussion began at the audio launch of Ustaad Bhagat Singh, where director Harish Shankar spoke highly about DSP’s working style. Praising him, Harish Shankar said, "Lyrics, rhythm, beat and voice are heard clearly. Presenting the complete soul of a song with total dedication is done only by Devi Sri Prasad in this generation."

This statement immediately went viral on social media. Many people felt it was an indirect comment on Thaman especially because his recent album for Akhanda 2 faced criticism for being extremely loud.

Meanwhile at the same time, Thaman addressed the issue of industry culture during a recent interview while promoting Akhanda 2. He spoke honestly about how success is treated today. Thaman said, "The culture of appreciating others’ work has almost disappeared in the industry."

He further explained, "Backstabbing has become very common. Whenever I am approached for a project, another music director goes to the producer and offers to do the same film for much less money."

Comparing Tollywood with other film industries, Thaman added, "Other industries have stronger unity. That kind of support system is missing in Telugu cinema."

Meanwhile fans of both composers continue to defend their favorites, but the situation clearly reflects deeper cracks in the industry’s working culture.
