Opinion: Jailer 2 Will Not Work For T-Stars

Superstar Rajnikanth’s latest outing, Jailer 2, hasn’t disappointed anyone, though it’s not having the carnage like it was expected in the Telugu states. However, the movie’s terrific comedy in the first half has once again brought back the question of why some senior Telugu stars are not doing films like this. Here’s an interesting take on the same.

Many are thinking about why Chiranjeevi first rejected the Jailer franchise, and why other Telugu stars also haven’t shown much interest. However, though Jailer 2 also collected more than ₹700 crores, the fact is that such content suits only Rajnikanth. If Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna or any other Telugu hero does a similar role, people might wonder why these stars are not doing any fight, dance or any other thing that’s their forte.

More than that, Chiranjeevi-kind of stars haven’t followed Rajini’s style and mannerism-based acts throughout their careers, so if they try it now, it not only looks odd but also unconvincing. For that reason, jailer-kind content is not the cup of tea for the Telugu stars.

However, they should think of doing similar comedy and giving space to other actors, like how the character Murthy stood out in Jailer 2. Once they do that, even Telugu stars are likely to create mayhem at the box office with comedy- and action-centric films.
