Ace director Koratala Siva was in top gear until ‘Acharya’ happened to him. Despite having a bigger star like Megastar Chiranjeevi and his son Ram Charan in hand, he has failed to deliver, after going for a story with lots of cliches. He repeated the same mistake with Jr NTR’s Devara too, and couldn’t really capitalise on his own writing strengths, while he relied more on the hero’s mass image.

Guess what, after a lot of dilly-dallying, finally, Koratala Siva’s next, featuring Nandmauri Balakrishna in the lead, got announced the other day. Going by the first announcement of this project, it looks like Koratala learnt his lesson, realised his mistake and is on course correction now. Picking up subjects like Acharya and Devara, where the hero belongs to a different world and tries to do different things, has backfired. Now that he realised that societal dramas like Srimanthudu and Bharat Ane Nenu have helped him grow, Koratala now switched to a similar line for Balakrishna’s movie. That’s a good sign, say movie observers.

Rather than giving a direct lecture to the audience about society, rules and ethics, this time, Koratala Siva is said to have crafted an interesting scenario around this, using Balayya’s mass image. Hope the director gets things right, and gets back to the best form of storytelling he has had during the times of Janatha Garage. After the negativity that came around him, this film should give him that breather.
