Lokesh Kanagaraj is one of the most happening young directors in South India. He is just four films old and his fifth movie is up for release this weekend. But he has a huge craze among the youth thanks to his intense action dramas. He showed his worth to everyone with just a few films and even created 'Lokesh Cinematic Universe' which increased his craze multifold.

But Lokesh has a pattern that he needs to break with 'Leo'. His debut with 'Maanagaram' is quite brilliant but it did not make enough money. It went unnoticed by the Telugu audience though it did decently in Tamil. Sandeep Kishan is the lead actor in it. He then scored a blockbuster with Karthi's 'Khaidi'. He stayed away from the regular commercial format and his storytelling impressed each and everyone.

But he fell into the star hero trap for 'Master'. Though the premise looked promising and the idea of pitting Vijay against Vijay Sethupathi was brilliant, the movie lost its way as Lokesh found it tough to balance Vijay's stardom and the film's plotline. The movie did good business but many were disappointed with Lokesh's work.

After that, he showed his brilliance once again with 'Vikram'. Despite having big names like Kamal Hassan, Fahad Fasil and Vijay Sethupathi, he gave first preference to the story and screenplay. We saw the characters but not the stars in that gangster drama. The film did wonders at the box office and he opened the doors for a cinematic universe by the end of this movie.

Now, he is arriving with 'Leo' and the expectations are already sky-high. The movie is also accused of being inspired by 'A History Of Violence' and the trailer not being up to the mark. While people still believe Lokesh could deliver big time, the director himself needs to break the pattern of giving one average film after a blockbuster with 'Leo'. Let us see if it happens or not.
