Nag Ashwin has become one of the biggest directors of Indian Cinema with his three films - Yevade Subramanyam, Mahanati and Kalki 2898 AD. His debut film, Yevade Subramanyam has become a cult classic and it is re-releasing in theatres for its tenth anniversary. The movie stars Natural Star Nani, Rowdy Vijay Deverakonda, Parvati Nair and Ritu Varma.
On this occasion, the director has decided to interact with media. During his interaction, he thanked Nani for choosing his script when no one showed interest. He also stated that producers Priyanka Dutt, Swapna Dutt loved the concept and it is Nani, Priyanka and Swapna who pushed him to make this movie, the way he envisioned.
He stated that he feels everyone has a mix of Rishi and Subbu - characters played by Vijay Deverakonda and Nani, and that relatability has made the movie last for years in audiences minds. He remarked that people will something new whenever they watch Yevade Subramanyam regarding their lives.
He explained that the rawness and innocence, he had while making his debut film has yielded to the film in making it so pure and honestly. He stated that it is Nani, Vijay Deverakonda who took the big leap of faith to work with him in real locations and in a low budget.
He commented that it would be difficult to make such a difficult self-discovery movie with such tough travel to Himalayas as they went for it as a close knit family trusting each other. He dimissed any fall-outs or ego clashes between the leading stars and stated that everyone encouraged everyone sets, mainly, Nani encouraged entire team members being a popular star by that time.
Nag Ashwin opined that while Yevade Subramanyam has many fans today, during its first release, it did not find the reception they hoped for. So, he stated that with this re-release they hope for movie finding more reach and stated that they have amplified the theatrical experience as well.
