Robinhood: 1 Film, Infinite Problems
The Nithiin starrer is getting it horribly wrong as far as the release plan goes as things are looking very murky
Featuring Nithiin and Sree Leela in the lead roles, Robinhood was initially announced for release during the Christmas season but things have changed pretty substantially now with the latest developments. The Nithiin starrer is getting it horribly wrong as far as the release plan goes as things are looking very murky.
Right, when the release plan for the Nithiin film was announced, there were certain doubts about the planning. This film was suspiciously in close proximity to Pushpa 2 which is also produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
As it turned out, the second part of Pushpa performed as expected at the box office, and this meant that Mythri could not risk releasing another film from their own production house, which would eat into the Allu Arjun film. As a result, the release got postponed from the Christmas slot.
Then it was speculated that the film might be pushed to the Sankranti season. However, there is another problem to be addressed here. Ram Charan and Balakrishna had already thrown kerchief on the Sankranthi slot so if Mythri come with their new film now at the last minute, it would mean that they would be in the bad books of both the heroes. Moreover, there’s the theater distribution issue as well.
Subsequently, Robinhood which had already lost the Christmas season due to Pushpa 2 is now having to lose the Sankranthi prospect as well. Then, if they opt to go for the Sivarathri slot in February, this isn’t vacant either. Vishwak Sen’s Lailaa and Mad Square are announced for release during this season.
In the end, a nearly completed film like Robinhood which has the successful combination of Nithiin and Venky Kudumula is finding it hard to lock a release window which has become a headache in itself for the makers.
