Where Devara Lacked, Pushpa 2 Is Punching
There wasn’t a single marquee event for the film for the fans to celebrate.
One of the principal complaints against the makers of NTR’s Devara was the mediocre promotional campaign that was planned and executed for the film. There wasn’t a single marquee event for the film for the fans to celebrate.
The makers confined the promotion to an event in Mumbai and an event in Chennai, followed by a brief interaction with Bengaluru media. This was about it. There wasn’t even a Telugu event in the Telugu states as the proposed one in Hyderabad got canceled at the last minute.
Now, in the case of Pushpa 2, every event is being meticulously planned and executed by Allu Arjun’s team. They’re making sure that there are enough high profile events for the film ahead of the release.
Adding to that, Pushpa 2 mania is gripping the Mumbai metro as well. The Pushpa 2 banners and murals are all over the internet now as the Mumbai Metro is loaded with Pushpa marketing. This is a genius move from the makers.
While Devara, despite being a pan India film, largely lacked when it comes to proactive promotions. There were very little collective efforts to take the film to the wider audience then.
However, with Pushpa 2, right from the offline events to media meeting to the public promotions including metro marketing, branding on merchandise and other stuff, the team is punching above its weight. This could perhaps be a case study for the makers of other pan Indian films to follow.
