Ban On Ravneer Singh: Won't Stand Legally?
Reports say Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani approached the concerned bodies claiming financial losses because of Ranveer walking out of the project unexpectedly.
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh’s sudden exit from Don 3 has now become much bigger than just a casting change. What initially looked like a creative issue has slowly turned into an industry-level controversy after Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) reportedly issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor. Many are wondering if a federation of workers union can really ban a top notch actor like Ranveer in the first place, even after he scored a gigantic ₹2000+ crores success with the Dhurandhar series.
Reports say Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani approached the concerned bodies claiming financial losses because of Ranveer walking out of the project unexpectedly. Since Don 3 was announced with massive hype and pre-production had already moved ahead, the makers allegedly suffered major losses after his exit. But legal expert and Ranveer’s lawyer Ameet Naik openly stated that such bans are illegal and practically unenforceable.
According to him, no film body has the authority to stop an individual from working. He also pointed out that FWICE is not a statutory authority and cannot impose restrictions like a court or government institution. In simple words, the “ban” may create headlines, but legally it may not stand if challenged.
Many social media users are openly saying that a star like Ranveer Singh will not really be affected by such directives, especially in today’s pan-India and global production environment where films are shot internationally with multiple production structures. Some even argued that these industry bodies had more power decades ago, but not anymore in the OTT and corporate cinema era. Well, we have to see what happens.
