After a gap of nearly four years, Roshan Meka is returning to the big screen with his upcoming film Champion, which is set for a grand theatrical release on December 25. Even though his last film was a box office success, Roshan chose to take time before selecting this project as it carries strong historical and emotional weight.
Champion is inspired by the 1948 Bairanpally revolt, a lesser-known but powerful chapter in history. The film focuses on the bravery of villagers who stood up against the Razakar attacks during the Nizam rule. Promotional content released so far, including songs like Gira Gira, Sallangundale, and the energetic club track, has received a very positive response. The trailer, in particular, highlights the core theme of courage, unity, and sacrifice.
As part of the film’s promotions, Roshan Meka recently visited Bairanpally village in 2025 and met the descendants of the brave villagers. He spent time listening to their stories and learning about how the village defended itself. The locals spoke about how Raji Reddy led the people and how nearly 90 villagers lost their lives in a brutal night attack. They also showed Roshan the memorial pillar built to honor those martyrs.
Deeply moved by the visit, Roshan assured the villagers that Champion would be a respectful tribute to their sacrifice. He said the film aims to bring their story to a global audience and ensure their courage is never forgotten.
The film is produced by Swapna Cinema and Priyanka Dutt, with direction by Pradeep Advaitam. With strong research and attention to detail, Champion promises an authentic and emotional cinematic experience when it releases worldwide on December 25.
