It is known that Tollywood has fully embraced and started to nurture the trend of re releases. The same continued this weekend as well, with the theatrical arrival of Salaar. This film had a release on March 21, and it is generated good, hype thanks to the commercial action meter that it boasts of.
Coming to the topic now, while the film was able to generate substantial hype before the release, this did not necessarily convert into the actual theatrical return returns.
The film had reportedly sold 102K tickets on Book My Show. This might sound like a decent number in itself but in comparison, it is just an ordinary number.
To put things into perspective, Gabbar Singh had sold 175K tickets, while Murari and Businessman could sell 145K tickets each. In terms of the number of tickets sold, this film could not draw similar numbers as the other three mentioned films.
Even in terms of Indian wide markets, it is interstellar which holds this record with 234K tickets sold for the theatrical re release.
In the end, despite all the hype and attention, this Prabhas film could not set any new records in terms of theatrical re release marketing.
This film could essentially be termed as a mediocre performer when it comes to the absolute returns of re release films.
