Sanjay Leela Bhansali To Represent Indian Cinema At Republic Day Parade 2026

For the first time in history an Indian film director will represent Indian cinema at the Republic Day parade in 2026. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been chosen for this special honour. Reports say that he will present a cinema themed tableau at Kartavya Path on January 26.

This is a proud moment for Indian cinema. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has worked together with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for this project. The tableau is expected to celebrate the journey and beauty of Indian films. Many people believe that Bhansali is the right person for this responsibility. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for making grand and emotional films. He is a director producer writer editor and also a music composer. He made his first film Khamoshi The Musical in 1996. He became very popular after films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas.

Bhansali won the National Film Award for his film Black. He later made successful films like Saawariya Guzaarish Ram Leela Bajirao Mastani Padmaavat and Gangubai Kathiawadi. In 2015 he received the Padma Shri award for his contribution to cinema.

In recent years Bhansali also entered the digital space. He directed the web series Heeramandi which received wide attention. In 2024 he launched his own music label called Bhansali Music. Bhansali is also supporting new projects as a producer. One such film is Do Deewane Seher Mein which will release in February. He is also working on his next big film Love And War. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. The release date is expected in 2026.
