No Chiranjeevi or Balayya for Sankranthi 2027

Sankranthi is one of the biggest movie seasons for Telugu cinema. Every year, several big films compete to entertain audiences during the festival holidays. Sankranthi 2027 was also expected to have a strong lineup with films featuring some of the biggest stars. However, the plans now appear to have changed significantly.

Megastar Chiranjeevi, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Nagarjuna were earlier expected to bring their films to theatres for Sankranthi 2027. But none of their projects is currently expected to arrive during the festival season.

Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film, popularly referred to as Mega158, is being directed by Bobby. The project has reportedly been delayed and is now expected to target a summer 2027 release. This means Chiranjeevi’s film may not be part of the Sankranthi race.

Balakrishna’s project has also faced a change in plans. The actor recently suffered an injury, and there is no clear update about the film’s release date at present. As a result, his movie is also unlikely to release for Sankranthi.

Nagarjuna had earlier planned to reunite with director Kalyan Krishna Kurasala for a film. The project was expected to arrive during the festival season. However, the Sankranthi release plan has now reportedly been dropped.

With these major films moving out, a new group of movies is expected to dominate the Sankranthi 2027 season.

Sai Dharam Tej’s Sambarala Yeti Gattu is expected to hit screens on January 12. Anil Ravipudi’s multi-starrer featuring Venkatesh and Kalyanram is planned for January 13. Sharwanand’s film with director Sreenu Vaitla, titled George Krish, is announced for January 14.

Another interesting release is a film starring Karthi and directed by Kalyan Shankar. Its exact release date has not been announced yet.

There could also be a dubbed release from Tamil cinema. Rajinikanth’s Dharman is currently expected to be another possible Sankranthi attraction.

The final lineup may change again as the release dates get closer. Still, Sankranthi 2027 is shaping up to be an interesting season, with several different films ready to compete for the festival audience.
