Deepfake Videos: Shruti Haasan Demands ₹15 Cr

Shruti Haasan has already taken the battle of ‘copyright’ when it comes to using her pictures on posters and other places, and other commercial items, to the Court. And then, she has even alleged that the social media platforms and AI companies should be responsible for the deepfake image generation and spreading of it.

Currently, Shruti Haasan is demanding ₹15 crores in compensation from all these companies together for spoiling her reputation through the spread of the Deepfake videos. The Bombay High Court has already passed an interim injunction that all the videos of Shruti Haasan that are illegal and wrong be removed from social media, while Shruti’s demand for money is being examined.

At the same time, the Court also noticed that if Deepfakes go viral, surely they have a long-term impact on the reputation and image of a celebrity, which money-based compensation can’t even justify. With Shruti’s case identifying almost 18 companies as defendants, we have to see how the Court order will further come out.

Meanwhile, many other actresses like Shalini Pandey also expressed their discontent at the use of AI to generate Deepfake images.
