₹140 Cr Gross: Are Vijay Fans Supporting Suriya?

On the other hand, Karuppu, which was released in Telugu as Veerabhadrudu, hasn’t found many takers even from the mass pockets of Andhra and Telangana regions.

Despite getting the release delayed and shows cancelled due to various factors, Suriya’s Karuppu finally managed to hit cinemas last Friday. While the reviewers and first day audience have axed the film sharply with their choice of words, expressing their disappointment big time, the film is doing exactly the opposite of that talk inside the theatres. It has already collected ₹140 crores, with such a mediocre talk, and that’s the reason that is stunning trade analysts too. So, what’s cooking in Kollywood?

In fact, some say that the film’s indirect support to TVK Chief and the incumbent Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has gone well with the fans of Vijay, more than that of Suriya’s fans. At the same time, the film has Trisha as the leading lady, and she’s widely supported by all the TVK’s cadres, no matter what her relationship with Vijay is. That’s why it looks like all those Vijay fans, who are waiting for their right mass film to roll out, are said to be coming in support of Suriya and watching the film big time. As the political touch in the film is also overwhelming, it looks like director RJ Balaji has pulled the right chords, quite luckily.

On the other hand, Karuppu, which was released in Telugu as Veerabhadrudu, hasn’t found many takers even from the mass pockets of Andhra and Telangana regions. Here, the film is sounding like any other regular movies only, but the Tamil Nadu’s current volatile political situation that tilted all the favours towards Vijay in the elections, is helping the film big time there. Sometimes a stroke of luck helps a few films big time, and that’s how they emerge as the biggest crowd pullers and money spinners. Looks like Karuppu’s time is going in the right direction at the moment.
