Siddharth and Andrea's 'Gruham' which came out in 2017 became a good success in Telugu. It is was made with less budget but got more profits to the producers. Milind Rao directed this film and many expected him to be the next big thing in the horror and thriller genre. He made 'Netrikan' with Nayanthara which was released directly on OTT. While the technical standards were appreciated, the movie had a lot of flaws. He arrived with a web series titled 'The Village' starring Tamil hero Arya and 'Mangalavaram' fame Divya Pillai.

It is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The story is about Dr. Goutham (Arya) who goes for help by leaving his wife and daughter in the car when the tire gets punctured near Kattiyal village located in Toottukoodi district. He realizes that there are devils and ghosts around that area and takes them three to start enquiring. He is stunned to see the atrocities committed by those strange-looking people inside the earth. Goutham finds out that it is all because of a scientist (Jayaprakash) who does crazy experiments on people. What happens after that needs to be seen on the screens.

The first three parts are filled with thrills and goes at good speed as well. But Milind Rao slows down from the fourth episode and the weird-looking beings and the gore shown are hard to witness. The violence has crossed the limits and the director decides to take you to flashback after completing half of the series which tests your patience. Milind Rao directed some scenes in a pretty gory way that you feel like throwing up. He took inspiration from a few Hollywood movies but he failed to impress with 'The Village' at the end.
