The luck is not favouring Varun Tej right now. After scoring hits like 'Fidaa', 'Tholi Prema' and 'F2', people expected him to reach the next level within no time. But all his movies post lockdown are getting rejected by the audience. 'F3' is an exemption among all the others.

He arrived as a solo hero with movies like 'Ghani', 'Gandheevdhari Arjuna', and 'Operation Valentine'. All three of them became disasters and his market took a severe beating because of it. His fan following is getting reduced and this effect is clearly seen on his upcoming movies. During the time of 'Operation Valentine', he started a movie titled 'Matka' which is set in a period backdrop. The glimpse generated a decent response and Karuna Kumar of 'Palasa 1978' fame is directing it.

It was okayed at a time when the digital market was down and the producers allotted 60 crores budget to the movie. When the digital rates going down, they reduced the budget and wanted to finish within 40 crores. People were not sure whether 40 crores would be enough for this movie or not. Varun Tej had two disasters and there are doubts about the box-office stamina of the Mega hero.

A partner of Vyra Entertainments walked out of this project and Mohan Cherukuri is the only one left. He is not ready to take such a risk and he is looking for another partner now. With Varun's market going down and Karuna Kumar not making a commercially successful film till date, the future of 'Matka' is in the doldrums. Let us wait and see what happens.
