Ajith-Vijay Hug.. Why Is a Pawan-Mahesh Moment Still Elusive?

A video of Vijay and Ajith meeting at Silverstone has now gone viral across South India. For years, fans have often viewed the two Tamil stars as rivals, which made their warm hug all the more special. The moment quickly became a talking point among Tamil fans, and soon the discussion crossed over into Telugu social media as well.

Interestingly, the names of Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu started trending together once again. Fans began asking the same question: When will these two stars finally share a frame like Ajith and Vijay did?

The Pawan-Mahesh connection is not new. Back in 2008, Mahesh Babu lent his voice to ‘Jalsa’, providing the voice-over introducing Pawan Kalyan’s character. His voice before Sanjay Sahu’s entry became one of the memorable elements of the film. Reports at the time also suggested that Mahesh did the voice-over without taking any remuneration.

Pawan, meanwhile, had shown his support for Mahesh much earlier in his career by attending the launch event of ‘Yuvaraju’.

Yet, despite this connection, the two stars have rarely been seen together in front of the cameras.

Pawan has never been someone who regularly attends film events, and his entry into politics made his public schedule even more demanding. Mahesh, too, is not a regular presence at other actors' film functions. Whether it is audio launches, pre-release events or award ceremonies, seeing both stars at the same venue has remained a rare occurrence.

There was a major expectation in 2014 when Tollywood organised the ‘Memu Saitham’ event for victims of Cyclone Hudhud. There was speculation that both Pawan and Mahesh would attend the November 30 event at Annapurna Studios. However, neither of them eventually made it.

Since then, there have been occasional rumours about the two sharing a stage at various film events. But the much-awaited photograph of Pawan and Mahesh together has still not materialised.

That does not mean the two have never spoken positively about each other.

When ‘Vakeel Saab’ was released, Mahesh watched the film and appreciated Pawan’s performance. Pawan, in turn, praised Mahesh’s efforts as a producer while speaking about ‘Major’.

Their connection has also surfaced outside cinema. When Pawan Kalyan scored a major electoral victory, Mahesh congratulated him on social media. As expected, their names started trending together again.

But that is exactly what makes the current buzz interesting.

Fans are not looking for another social media post or a compliment from one star to the other. They want that one unforgettable visual - Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu standing together, sharing a frame, perhaps even exchanging a warm hug.

After the viral Ajith-Vijay moment, that wait has only become stronger.
