Vijay’s GOAT Turns into a Triple Disaster in Telugu States

However, GOAT is shaping up to be one of Vijay’s worst-performing films in Telugu.

Thalapathy Vijay’s latest film GOAT (Greatest of All Time) has turned out to be a massive failure in the Telugu market. The film struggled from the start, with a poorly received trailer, disappointing songs, and almost no promotions. This led to extremely negative reviews from Telugu audiences, severely affecting its box office performance.

While GOAT is performing relatively better in Tamil Nadu and overseas, it has failed in the Telugu states. This is a stark contrast to Vijay's previous films like Master, Adirindi, Varasudu, and Leo, which were successful and brought in decent profits for Telugu distributors. Even Beast, though not a big hit, managed to do average business. However, GOAT is shaping up to be one of Vijay’s worst-performing films in Telugu.

Before its release, GOAT had a pre-release business target of over Rs. 20 crores in the Telugu states. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that the film will even reach Rs. 10 crores, and it’s projected to collect less than Rs. 5 crores over the first four days. Industry experts expect the film to be labeled as a double or even triple disaster, which would be an unprecedented flop in Vijay’s Telugu career.

This failure marks the first major disaster for Vijay in the Telugu market since 2017. The sharp decline in the film's performance is surprising, given his generally strong track record in the region. Vijay and his fans likely had high hopes for this film, especially as it is one of his final projects before he takes a step back from acting to focus on his political career. However, GOAT failed to meet expectations, both in terms of box office numbers and audience reception, making it a significant disappointment for his Telugu fanbase.
